Introduction
Working across five primary schools, four children’s centres and studying at two top 5 Universities I was taught by pioneering lecturers and classroom practitioners who interlaced both child psychology and creative pedagogy through a holistic learning approach. Integrating my academic skills together with vocational opportunities has allowed me to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of a comprehensive range of teaching, learning, assessment and behaviour strategies. I am a focused, determined and organised individual with a genuine enthusiasm for education and its practices. This operates as an intellectual force which drives me forward to enhance my professional teaching knowledge and understanding further through providing personal tutoring to other students. I believe my experiences display my willingness to work hard to unlock the opportunities tutoring entails which I believe makes me a suitable candidate for this job. I have recently graduated from the University of Oxford with an MSc in Education and Child Development. During the course, I completed 6 assignments in Child Development, Practicum in Early Years and Primary Literacy, Foundations of Educational Research, Interventions and Policies to Promote Children’s Development, Quantitative Design and Data Analysis as well as undertaking an independent research thesis (20,000-word) which I aim to be publishing a journal article on. Besides my academics, I took on the role of Academic Student Representative where I gathered views from peers through surveys and meetings and communicate these to academic staff to help improve and suggest changes to the course and organised social events and coordinated end of year activities. Since completing the course I have been acting as alumni and point of contact for new applicants providing alumni talks and seminar presentations on research to the new cohort. My undergraduate degree was completed at Durham University, here I qualified with a First-Class Honours in Primary Education. The Primary Education degree offered Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and I studied the three core subjects (English, Maths and Science) and specialised in the broader primary curriculum. I completed research assignments in Professional and Academic Study Skills, Development and Learning in the Very Early Years, Research Methods in Education, Teaching and Learning, as well as capstone dissertation in English specialising in the effect of parental involvement on a child’s early reading development. This experience helped me to understand that research involved more than collecting evidence. I learnt the importance of conceptualising ideas and critically evaluating and appraising literature when constructing appropriate questions to inform my own investigation. As a result of my dissertation study, During seminar discussions, I enjoy using my autonomy to participate collaboratively and express my views in an effective manner. Being both a team leader and team player, I can listen to, share and combine ideas with my peers in reciprocal ways to support, challenge and amplify my own learning. As a determined individual, I would flourish working alongside like-minded individuals when applying for education related degrees to help create new discoveries and action research within education. I completed my A-levels with an A grade in both A2 Psychology and A2 Biology, a B grade in A2 Chemistry, thus, I have recently chosen to specialise tutoring in these 4 areas (Psychology, Biology, Chemistry and Maths) at GCSE level. During my high school education, I have attained awards at every annual school prize night, culminating with the prestigious Governor's Browning Award for outstanding commitment, in recognition of my persistent effort and pioneering attitude that I have demonstrated in the Sixth Form.

Researcher - Language InterventionJune, 2018 - June, 2018Based on literature studied in psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics, I developed an early reading and writing programme in Malayalam to teach 30 UK immigrant children their heritage mother tongue through a home-based tutoring programme (the basis of my 20,000-word master’s thesis). 16 bilingual lesson plans, literacy materials and e-learning strategies were created. The first week of teaching and parental training was delivered by myself and another native speaker, the subsequent 3 weeks was delivered by the parents and fidelity was measured. -
