Introduction
I am a recent first class graduate in Modern and Medieval Languages (French and Russian) from the University of Cambridge. I have many years of experience in volunteering with children and young people in many different and sometimes sensitive, multi-lingual settings. Whilst living in Georgia I worked with Russian-speaking primary aged children at a creative project which prioritized craft and story-telling as a means of development and bonding. I also offered informal tutoring in English language and conversation to fellow Russian-speaking adult volunteers involved in a charity initiative in Georgia called Choose to Help at which I also volunteered. This charity provides food, clothing and hygiene products to Ukrainian refugees living in Georgia and during my time there I was also involved in translating materials into English to attract fundraising on the charity's multilingual website. Whilst studying at Trinity College, Cambridge, I worked as an admissions mentor. This involved the facilitating of online interviews for candidates and allowed me to build a rapport and settle candidates before their various tests. This role also involved various online outreach events with secondary school children during which other speakers and I spoke about our experience of studying languages at Cambridge and provided admissions advice to those involved.
